Personal Philosophies
Below are some philosophies that I have deepened from the education I received at the University of Mary. These include my teaching philosophy, classroom management philosophy and my motivation.
Teaching Philosophy
I believe that it is extremely important for students to understand mathematical concepts. I believe that students who understand why something works will be able to remember it longer and be able to recreate it more easily. I believe in differentiated instruction to make learning difficult concepts possible for all students. Some ways that I would differentiate would be listing to a lecture, practicing problems, watching a video, or reading.

Classroom Management Philosophy
In my classroom I will have procedures set in place to keep the days structured for my students so they know what is expected of them. This will reduce the amount of facilitating I would have to give do on any given day.
I will also implement policies in my classroom that are easy for the students to remember. I will also have them help me create some of these policies. This way students will learn why I have certain rules in place and be able to make the classroom their own.
I will establish relationships with my students through showing care for them and their interests. This along with making the curriculum relevant to their lives will help me keep them intrinsically motivated to learn the material.

My Motivation
I believe that all students can succeed and it is up to me as a teacher to give them the chance to do their best by reaching them where they are and not where I think they should be.
